Last week I shared with you some pages from a 1958 Simplicity Sewing Book and as I mentioned in that post, I found the Simplicity book with another vintage sewing book. A 1964 Vogue Sewing Book! It too is filled with some wonderful sewing tips and techniques.

“Vogue has always known. Known how deep was your need to sew the kind of clothes in which you could walk tall and proud.”

There are fabulous illustrations (typical of vintage Vogue publications) throughout.

It wouldn’t be a sewing book without helpful pages on sewing details.

Included are profiles of the famous couturiers who created Vogue designs, including Emilio Pucci, Guy Laroche, Pierre Balmain and Jacques Heim…

… and their haute couture techniques!

And last but not least, near the end of the book is a fabric dictionary. Very handy for identifying vintage fabrics!

Do you have any vintage sewing books? I think they’re such a valuable resource. Don’t you?

Fabulous! Love the profiles of the designers and fabric swatches. I have a 1943 Complete Book of Sewing by Constance Talbot that is a nice resource–and full of great photos and illustrations.
oh my! Vintage sewing books are near and dear to my heart … this one would certainly be treasured!! :) I actually have quite a collection…. I’m sure my children would say too many, but they each have their own wonderful tips and tricks … some long forgotten. I love them!
Oh my gosh! That looks like it would be super useful! What a find!
I have one vintage sewing book from the late 40s that has served me well.
I’m crazy about old sewing books, and I actually refer to mine when I’m trying to figure out a technique. My oldest one is from the 1920s, and my newest one from the 1980s. It is amazing how much sewing has changed over the years!
