Vogue has released a book which takes a look at 120 years of the greatest Vogue covers. It’s called Vogue: The Covers and while I’m itching to get my hands on my own copy, Vogue has kindly provided a little teaser of the publication on their website.
This April 1, 1910 cover is beautiful. I’m not sure if this is a Coles Phillips illustration but it looks like his trademark “fade-away” style. I really love how the illustration draws attention to the millinery focus of the issue with the silhouetting of the body.

Ah the 1920s and the Gatsby! I love Georges Lapape’s illustrations and this Februrary 2, 1919 cover is simply divine.

I adore the minimalist beauty of this October 15, 1952 Erwin Blumfeld cover. The red lips are gorgeous!

Now… I’m not a huge fan of Lady Gaga but this March 2001 cover by Mario Testino is one of my recent favourites. The soft colouring with the pop of 1920s bob pink! Fabulous!

How about you? Are you a reader of Vogue? Are there any covers from the last 120 years that you adore?

The first two are stunning! I love Edwardian/1920s publications…even the advertisements were beautiful then.
